Sami Oeser
Volunteer July 2007 – July 2009

Sami joined us through the Peace Corps and quickly settled into life in Botswana. She worked in the office supporting the finances, administration, sorting donations, managing petty cash and dealing with the distribution of plasters and first aid spray! Her positive attitude and advice is still missed in the office.

Matt Harris
Volunteer June-September 2008

“Working for Bana Ba Letsatsi has been the single most rewarding and exceptional experience I have ever had. Bana Ba Letsatsi has lots of street children who come to the centre, which provides a safe environment for the children. Without the centre the children could be working or begging and vulnerable to abuse. Bana Ba Letsatsi allows the children to be children again. That’s when the volunteer helps.

We played games I taught them & we played lots of sport, particularly football, and I am sure we have stars of the future. As for Maun, it is a great place to live. Full of warm people, locals and people just traveling through. Jobs have included getting up early to pick up the children and then getting them ready for school, helping with homework in the afternoons, doing the weekly food shopping, helping in the office and also the teachers The children at Bana Ba Letsatsi will make you smile, laugh, cry and smile again. It has been wonderful”.
